Tattoos and Piercings these days... Scratch that- PEOPLE these days...
Ok so I'm probably about to piss a couple people off but I don't really care at this point.
I am done listening to people complaining about tattoos & piercings AND I am just as tired of all the tatted up and pierced folk getting all defensive about it! To each his own i know and agree but still we all need to have our limits. To an extend both kinds of people have crossed the line.
Now let me make this clear before y'all start calling me a hater or claim I am favoring one side over the other- I love tattoos and want one of my own AND I also love piercings(i married a guy with both sooo yeah). But the truth of the matter is some tattoos and some piercings can screw up your career opportunities and some just make people uncomfortable! I mean lets be honest here- some people have some very crude, disgusting, and/or vulgar tattoos! I mean come on people be a little more respectful here! If you MUST have it put it somewhere you can cover up- but also think of it this way- is that tattoo something you will still be proud of having when you are old? Detail and color may be amazing but that doesn't make the tattoo beautiful or art! A tattoo not only should be judged by it's color and design- but like all art- should be judged by it's meaning and value! I realize some people get tattoos just because they thought it was cool or beautiful and that is ok! But people who just get something sexual or demeaning because they can- it's those people who give ink a bad name. For example- at work I saw a guy with a pin up tattoo of a chick with her vagina very detailed and clearly displayed, RIGHT on his lower arm where all can see... Really now? I'm sorry but as an employer- I wouldn't hire you either! There is a way to decorate your body with tattoos and make it beautiful or classy or appropriate while still expressing who you are! If your tattoos are your way of expressing yourself what are you trying to express with a very sexualized tattoo? That you like exposing women? That you are a pervert?
All of this applies to piercings as well. Some Lip, ear, eyebrow, and nose piercings can be very attractive and clean and appropriate! They give a person character and another form of expression. But they also, when taken to extremes, (like huge gauges or 10 different piercings all over your face)can be a major turn off! No one is going to be focusing on you- they will be focusing on your piercings. My husband had a lip piercing and got his ears done as well and he kept both of them clean and respectful when at work or formal events, but also had his bigger studs or spirals for when it was just us and friends! He was able to have what he wanted when he wanted while still knowing when it was time to tone them down...
I guess what I am trying to get across here is people with tattoos and piercings can express themselves in ways that are beautiful and unique while still knowing when they are appropriate. AND people who aren't tattooed or pierced can learn to be more understanding and take a second to admire the ink and its meaning instead of assuming the worst all the time! Too many times we see someone with ink, doesn't matter what ink just ink, and automatically assume the worst in them and don't even give them a chance... A large amount of tattoos are dedications to a lost loved one, a birth of a child, or a reminder to the person of where they are trying to get to... Some tattoos are simply beautiful- they may have less meaning behind them, but their color and design is amazing! I have piercings and I want tattoos so I reiterate- don't go saying I'm just a hater- I'm just a middle ground party who is tired of all the complaining from both parties blowing up my news feed- y'all BOTH need to be a lot more understanding to each other.
