Well sung Hymn

So was driving to work this morning- and had a thought.

A healthy Christ like Marriage is like a well sung Hymn.

You have the instruments, representing friends and family. The husband and wife wouldn’t be where they are now without their encouragement. Helping to keep them motivated and on key- keeping them focused. The instrument have to account for the lead and harmonizer, and support both of them, not just one. The lead and the harmonizer do not need the instruments but they are stronger with their support.

You have the harmonized- the wife. She perfectly compliments the lead- repeating and supporting the words he says(even when she may not always agree with them). She helps him in moments where he may have temporarily forgotten the lyrics or is to nervous to sing. When he struggles, she may need to take the lead for a moment, just to help him back on his feet.

And last you have the lead vocalist- the husband. He leads the group in praise. He is the man in charge. Putting words of praise to the tune everyone else is playing. He may not always be confident in hitting those difficult high notes, but he trusts that God will get him through it- either through his own voice, the support of his harmonizer, or maybe a guitar solo from his instruments.

The lead relies heavily on his harmonizer to support him, and his band to keep him focused. The band has no voice without the lead and harmonizer. And The Harmonizer knows every word, but needs to lead to give her a key to follow- to be her partner, her guide. The lead and harmonizer both play an equally important, but different role...

And at the center of it all- the focus of their music- the focus of what brings them all together in perfect harmony- is God. He is the reason for their joyful noise.

All three can preform alone, but when they sing together- and with Christ as their Conductor- it is a tune that even a none believer will stop and ask, “why are they different? What gives them such joy in a dark world”.
